Jamaica’s premier sports and exercise medicine professionals

Our History

Established in 1979 by Dr Arthur Wint and Sir John Golding, the Jamaica Association of Sports Medicine has evolved as a multidisciplinary organization that continues to provide leadership and extensive support for Jamaica’s athletes and the country’s sport development aspirations. In providing first class support for all athletes, the Association convenes a wide field of professionals from various disciplines. These include Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, Dentistry, Sport Physiotherapy, Sport Psychology, Sport Nutrition, Coaching, Physical Education and Nursing. Affiliate professionals include Masseuses, Emergency Medical Technicians and Athletic Trainers. The JASM is complemented by a Western Branch and Central Chapter

What We Do

The JASM’s work involves providing service to Jamaica’s athletes in support of their preparation and journey toward optimal performance. This is accomplished through education, advocacy, research and the inclusion of global best practices in athlete care and rehabilitation. The Association seeks to promote the discipline of Sports Medicine among all stakeholders while providing expert advice, information and commentary on a variety of issues related to sports medicine and overall human wellness. Regular interaction with the athletic and general community is facilitated through seminars, workshops and the provision of medical coverage for all major sports events across the island.

Our Mission

To provide optimal care for the sportsperson through injury prevention and education, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries towards maintaining international status as a premier sporting nation.

Our Vision

To maintain our position as the leading resource for sports and exercise medicine in Jamaica and expand into the wider Caribbean

Natalia Fennell

Chair Western Branch

Natalia Fennell is the Founder and CEO of Kinetixx Movement Services, with over seven years of experience in the field of physiotherapy. She holds a BSc in Physical Therapy from the University of the West Indies, and her professional journey has been birthed from a passion for women’s health and paediatrics. This is complemented by a lifelong love for movement, shaped through my athletic background in track, netball, swimming, and dance throughout my childhood and adolescence.

As a Physical Therapist, her goal is to enhance how women navigate the changes within their bodies; whether pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy, postpartum, or through the natural ageing process, including menopause. Her work spans the full spectrum of life, as she proudly treats individuals from the newborn stage to the elderly.

Fun Fact: Beyond her professional life, she’s a woman of faith, a wife, and someone who believes that purpose extends beyond practice. Recently, she’s been called out of what she thought was “retirement” from dance, to use it again but this time as a vessel to share God’s word and testify through movement.
